A Day in Colonia, Uruguay

A day in colonia del sacramento, Uruguay

This trip was spontaneous and unexpected, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. One thing to know about me, I hate living a life without change and growth--my mantra; "if it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you."

Our life span is never guaranteed, and sometimes we need to take the risk that scares us because if we don't, we end up living a life of simplicity, and look to others with admiration for doing the things we were too scared to do.

On Oct 20, a couple of girls and I talked about taking the ferry to Uruguay for the day, which was on my list to visit while in Argentina. Once we checked the fairy times and the other logistics, we met up on Saturday morning at the station and were soon on our way to Colonia, Uruguay. The ferry was faster than I expected and took us only an hour until we got to our destination.

Once we arrived, we walked aimlessly without a map or reference of where to go, which is necessary at times when exploring a new city. And, for those who don't know, Colonia is one of the oldest towns in Uruguay and located in the southwestern region. As we walked on the cobblestoned streets, like many in South America, it felt as if we went back 50 years and were placed in a small Spanish hippie beach town.
