Ways To Stay Busy At-Home

In our current state, staying busy has become hard to do; we find ourselves doing the same thing over and over again. Although this is undeniably a weird time to be alive, it teaches us to find hobbies and things we enjoy, other than focusing on work and more work. And as we begin to navigate through this new norm while juggling our feelings and emotions, it's ok to feel vulnerable and not feel guilty about it.

Listen, I'm going to be very candid here and say, it's also ok to not check in with everyone all the time, it's ok to be more introverted, it's ok to only focus on us. We're all going through this, which is why we don't need to strain ourselves even more. I bring this up because, Tia Mowry, the star of SisterSister, had some backlash from a recent Twitter post, which was along the lines of realizing who our real friends are because they're the ones checking in on us and we should remember that once this is over. Now, I'm not saying to not check-in, by all means, do it, however, don't feel pressured into doing it is what I'm trying to say. Personally, I know I haven't been the best on checking in, but I'm human, and it's ok.

Ok, sorry for the rant, but it's something I needed to get off my chest and can hopefully help someone who's reading this to know it's ok. Alright, now back to my original intention for this post and what to do when you're bored in the house and in the house bored. Here are a few things I've been doing or want to do during this quarantine:

  • Do it yourself projects — I'm been repurposing old clothes into things I'll actually wear again

  • Cooking new and old recipes I have or find online through Pinterest

  • Creating vision boards for what I want to accomplish in the different aspects of my life; health, relationships, wealth, home, and career

  • Reorganizing my space

  • Reading books — I love James Patterson!

  • Finding a workout routine I actually enjoy and will follow

  • At-home spa days: hair masks, face masks, manicure, and pedicures

  • Taking online courses: Code Academy or MasterClass

  • Looking and researching more about the stock market and how to invest

  • Enjoying the great outdoors (dependent on where we live, of course)
